SST LAB NEWS (April 2024)

SST Lab’s Director and Founder Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Aty reached a significant milestone of achieving an h-index of 100!

The SST Lab led team took 6th place in the 2024 AI City Challenge (Track 2), part of the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR). An astonishing number of 726 teams from 47 countries across all tracks competed in the challenge (link).

The team studies transportation safety, mobility, travel behavior and applies digital twinning to analyze different traffic scenarios. It has expertise in computer vision and is home to advanced driving simulators. Although the lab was founded by Prof. Mohamed Abdel–Aty in 2018, the research and development work started more than 25 years ago. At any given moment, the lab hosts, on average, a team of approximately 25 researchers from different parts of the world with broad expertise.

A recent ranking of World Universities by “Edu rank” places UCF Transportation Engineering 7th in the US and 14th in the world.

Academic Rank of World Universities (Shanghai) placed UCF Transportation Program 5th in the US in 2020, 8th in 2022 , and 5th in the nation in 2023 in Transportation Science and Technology.
